Insulated basement door – Building a shed door is a relatively basic project, best completed by mounting the shed. Isolate the door requires use of some form of insulation, Styrofoam, sandwiched between two layers of plywood. The insulation is in the edges of the wooden planks and locked in place with other thin sheet of plywood. Some type of insulating material serves well to provide temperature and noise barrier.


Measure the height of the opening for the door carefully. Cut the sheets along the marks, and keep them to make sure the sheets are identical in shape. Keep cut sheets of plywood in the opening to check the measurements of insulated basement door. Keep the planks on one of plywood to check the size. The ends of the plank should be in line with each edge of the sheet.

Spread wood glue along one side of each plank. Controls 1-inch wood screws through the plywood planks, spaced every 8 inches, with a drill bit screwdriver. Repeat the process with two additional planks are placed flush of the insulated basement door. Attach the boards with glue and screws.

Press insulation such as foam or Styrofoam insulation, into the areas between the edges to fill the space between planks. Press the second sheet of plywood mounted on the door. Unit 1-inch screws spaced every 8 inches in each plank edge of the door and through the center of the door in to center, horizontal plank.
